Will of James Hodge, deceased
I, James Hodge, of the county of Carroll and state of Tennessee, do make and publish this as my last will and testament, hereby revoking all others by me at anytime made. First, I direct that after my death that my funeral expenses be paid out of any money that I may die possessed of, together with all of my just debts of any moneys that may first come to the hands of my Executrix. Secondly, I will and bequeath all of the property, both real and personal, to my beloved wife, Jula Ann Hodge, to use during her natural life, but after her death, my daughter Tennessee Maranda Hodge, shall be the owner of it all that may be on hand at the death of my wife Jula Ann Hodge. My intention is that my wife Jula Ann Hodge and my daughter Tennessee Maranda Hodge, have the benefit of all the property that I may die possessed of as I have given to the other children heretofore their part of my estate, both real and personal. Third, I hereby direct my Excecutrix to sell all of the machinery of every kind that may be on hand at my death, and appropriate the proceeds of same to the use and benefit of herself and daughter Tennessee Maranda Hodge. Fourth, I appoint my wife Jula Ann Hodge, Executrix, and empower her in my said will to take charge of all of the property that I may die possessed of, both real and personal, without being required to give any bond for the said Executrix. In witness, I hereunto set my hand and affix my seal on this the 28th day of June 1893.
